ECMORef is a passion project designed to help patients in their most critical moment during an ECMO Cannulation. A need was identified for a simplifed process of gathering the required cannulae for patients to save time and provide greater accuracy. After researching solutions we discovered very little solutions out in the wild and the ones that existed were complicated, simply didn't work, or required programming skills that were out of reach for the average clinician. With our solution the only skill you need is basic Microsoft Excel data entry to create your cannulae list. It really is that easy!

ECMORef allows your facility to update your cannulae list using a simple Excel file so you dont have to mess with a database. Uploads are easy and are protected by a simplified login system!
ECMORef keeps a small file history of your files that you upload. That way you can go back and review or restore a previously uploaded list.
Users of our app asked for an option to have a weight based search for simplicity as well as an option for BSA based search so now you have the option to customize each type of cannuale search to your facility's preferences.
When a weight is input a flow table is generated. When a height is input the app calculates BSA, Cardiac Index, and the range of flows needed to obtain a CI of 2.5 - 4.0 (it also highlights the range on the flow table).
Custom printable cannulae sheet similar to a code sheet to place at bedside if you are expecting to cannulate a patient or to have a copy for the patient chart. Printing also works from mobile if you have access to a compatible printer.
Please note the app is optimized for mobile devices but other wise works the same if accessing from a desktop.
In the demo of the app and we have included a single datasheet that does not have real world data.
BSA Search is disabled as well as the management area in the demo.
This application is fully functional but new features are being added as we work with our partners on the Children's Heath System of Texas ECMO Team.
May, 2024: We have upgraded the application framework to the latest standards for PHP to improve the secruity of our application.
January, 2021: We have added Cloudflare to optimize and serve the application more efficently via their CDN. They also provide an additional layer of security for us to mitigate potential threats from bad actors. ECMORef will only be available to North and South America, Europe, Oceania, and Japan. Currently we only have an English translation.
December, 2020: We have finalized the last remaining upgrades to our servers and application. Additional security measures were put into place for the facility management site and the servers in general. Physician customizations are fully functional as well as new app customizations. Printable cannulae lists that can be signed off and verified by physicans and ECMO Team Members to be added to your patient chart have been introduced. We are now in a final review stage with our partner Children's Health System of Texas.

November, 2020: As of Decemeber 1st, 2020 we will have aquired new servers to run the application smoothly and quickly no matter the demand placed on the server. The server will be located in the heart of Dallas. Final touches for improvements such as the ability to have custom cannulae lists for physicians, or the ability to transfer a cannula list created at one facility to another, as well as additional functional and security security improvements are currently being implemented.
October, 2020: We have offically registered ECMORef as a legal entity. In the past month we have reduced the actual foot print of the application to about a 10th of the size it once was all while adding additional features and improvements! We have also optimized the application loading times for retreiving data it should be now near instant.
September, 2020: Update to allow selection of either ECPR or Non-ECPR datasheets and have custom lists for each. Updates to the Excel datasheets VBA Macros that help keep your lists orgaized are complete.
February, 2019: ECMORef.com created. Second version of ECMORef Released to allow facilities to customize their lists. Multiple physican preference datasheets created.
January 2019: Simple working text demo of ECMORef created for the Children's Health ECMO Team.
